Understanding a Horseback Rider

You have probably seen many different Tik – Tok videos about horse girls making jokes about how often they are available to hang out and what the significant other is supposed to do during their shows, lessons, or just being around the barn. Understanding a horseback rider is a lot of work, that’s what everyone is making fun of.

They will always go to the barn first before they come and see you. As a horse girl who has had boyfriends, it’s difficult telling time at the barn. We are not always on our phones, so we may look at the time once, and we think only an hour has passed, but 4 hours have passed. Being at the barn time flies.

When they go to the show, depending on the show, be prepared to be there all day, or a good half of the day. After the show, they will be at the barn, taking care of their horse or helping; depending on what they usually do. No matter what they do, be prepared a horse show is an all-day event.

Even though it’s their hobby, a very expensive one, they take it very seriously. Think about what your hobbies are, golfing, gaming, soccer, etc. Whatever it is, think how much time you spend doing it, then double how much you care about it. Then you’ll sort of be in the realm of what they feel about their horse.

If you’re an animal person, and have either a dog, cat, snake, or whatever animal you own, take how much time and money you spend on your animal, and you’d be somewhat close to understanding a horseback rider.

They will spend all their money on their horse before spending money on themselves. Don’t worry, if they have a significant other, they will spend the rest of their money on you, instead of them.

No matter what they are doing or how much time/money they spend on their horse, it doesn’t take anything away from their loved ones. If they are carving out time for you, even texting you back while they are at the barn, that means they care a lot about you.

Horseback riders are insane. We choose to ride and work with wild animals that could or have hurt us. But horseback riding is like therapy for us. When we are working with our horse, we are working on ourselves.

“It’s the only sport in the world where an ambulance follows you everywhere. The world’s best rider in a split second they are in intensive care. It’s tense and it’s nerve racking. But nobody here would want to be anywhere else.”

(jokey.life Tik – Tok)

I chose this quote because it does resonate with every single horseback rider, no matter how experienced or good they are. We take spills that could kill us, but we go back the next day, no matter what. And it’s all because we absolutely love the sport.

Understanding a horseback rider is not very hard. All you have to know is they care about you in their own and all they want from you is your support and understanding.

If you are a significant other of a horseback rider and having issues with them. Try to make an effort of going to barn and helping them. You will be able to spend a lot more time with them and understand the reason behind of why they choose their horse over you.
